For more than a century the Board of Directors has played an important role in the Church Ushers Association of Brooklyn & Long Island. History is silent on individual names of Board Chairmen and members prior to 1938. Shortly after Henry Ballard became President in 1938, George I. Vickers, First AME Zion Church, became Board Chairman. He served for 26 years. The 2nd Chairman was Frank Hastie, Jr., Concord Baptist Church of Christ, (1971-1973), the 3rd  Chairman was Lucille Miley, Williamsburg Christian Church (1974-1983), 4th Chairman was Lee Collier, Varick Memorial AME Church (1984-2015). The 5th Chairman was  Betty R. Butler, First Baptist Church of Crown Heights (2016-2023). The 6th Chairman was Imogene V. Jones of The Cathedral of Hope Inc. (2023-2024). The 7th and current Chairman is Gary Armstead, Sr. of Janes United Methodist Church, elected in 2024.
